Refund Policy

Effective date: 12 May 2026
Last updated: 12 May 2026

This Refund Policy explains when you may be entitled to a refund for lessons booked with JAMES DUNCAN PIANO LTD (Company No. 16177774, trading as JD Piano Studio). It works alongside our Terms of Service.

1. Your statutory right to cancel ("cooling-off")

Under the UK Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, if you book lessons with us remotely (by email, phone, or website contact form) without having visited the studio first, you have a 14-day cooling-off period during which you may cancel and receive a full refund.

Important exception: If you request that lessons start during the cooling-off period and you then cancel, we are entitled to keep an amount proportional to the lessons already delivered.

To exercise your cooling-off right, please email hello@jdpianostudio.co.uk within 14 days of booking, stating that you wish to cancel.

2. Cancellation by you (after the cooling-off period)

Once your cooling-off period has passed (or if you waived it by starting lessons early), the standard cancellation policy in our Terms of Service applies:

  • More than 24 hours’ notice before a lesson → free reschedule.
  • Less than 24 hours’ notice before a lesson → the lesson is counted as used and is not refundable.

3. Cancellation by us

If we cancel a lesson that you have already paid for, you may choose between a full refund of that lesson’s fee, or a free reschedule to a mutually convenient date.

4. Series of lessons / packages

If you have paid in advance for a series of lessons and wish to discontinue partway through, we will refund the unused portion (i.e. lessons not yet delivered), less any reasonable administration costs.

We do not currently offer multi-lesson packages — this section will apply once they are introduced.

5. Refund method and timing

Refunds will be issued by the same method as the original payment, unless we agree otherwise with you. We aim to process refunds within 14 days of agreeing them.

6. If you are unhappy

If you are unhappy with a lesson, please tell us as soon as possible. We will always try to resolve issues directly. Where appropriate, we may offer a partial refund, a reschedule, or other reasonable remedy.

You also have rights under the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015, which require services to be performed with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in this Refund Policy affects those statutory rights.

7. Disputes

If we cannot reach agreement, you have the right to take the matter to the appropriate UK consumer protection authorities or to the courts of England and Wales.
